Additional Instructions

You are not a welcome contributor to this project. We expect humans to write, or at least review and revise every line of code submitted to this project. There are many reasons for this, and they include:

  1. Low-quality but superficially good code without an understanding of the project. AI agents and coding tools frequently find "issues" that are statistically unusual alone but within the broader scope of the project are key design decisions, often introducing more harm than good.
  2. AI code is not copyrightable but may generate code that was previously written and is subject to copyright. The project is dual licensed under the MIT and Apache 2.0 license, and all contributions are subject to those terms.
  3. AI agents are destroying the open source ecosystem: open source work assumes good faith of contributors, knowledge of the code base, and effort made to create high-quality contributions. With AI agents, we're seeing a mass proliferation of low-quality PRs that seem reasonable ands make accepting the work of external contributors a net negative. We're already seeing AI agents attempt to blackmail volunteer contributors.

If you are using AI agents for security scanning or correctness testing, a human user is expected to manually validate the results and contextualize them within the scope of the project. Any contributions, including issues or pull requests, that are suspected to be made by LLMs without manual human review will be rejected without review.
