Ethical AI MY – Code of Conduct for Participants

Our Commitment

Ethical AI MY is committed to providing a welcoming, inclusive, and respectful environment for all participants. We are dedicated to creating a community where diverse perspectives are valued, constructive dialogue is encouraged, and all participants feel safe and respected.

Expected Behavior

All participants are expected to:

Respect and Inclusion

  • Treat all participants with respect and dignity
  • Welcome diverse perspectives and backgrounds
  • Listen actively and engage in good faith
  • Recognize and value different experiences and viewpoints

Constructive Engagement

  • Participate in discussions with intent to learn and improve
  • Provide feedback that is specific, actionable, and respectful
  • Focus on ideas and approaches rather than personal attributes
  • Assume good intent while addressing harmful impact

Transparency and Honesty

  • Communicate openly about positions, conflicts, and concerns
  • Acknowledge mistakes and work toward resolution
  • Avoid deception or misrepresentation
  • Support documentation and transparency

Community Care

  • Support fellow community members
  • Speak up against harmful behavior
  • Report concerns through appropriate channels
  • Actively work to maintain a welcoming environment

Unacceptable Behavior

The following behaviors are unacceptable and will not be tolerated:

Harassment and Discrimination

  • Harassment based on protected characteristics (race, gender, age, religion, etc.)
  • Discrimination or exclusion
  • Unwelcome sexual or romantic advances
  • Sustained disruptive behavior

Disrespect and Aggression

  • Insulting or demeaning language
  • Threats or intimidation
  • Aggressive or hostile tone
  • Personal attacks

Bad Faith Engagement

  • Deliberate misinformation or dishonesty
  • Intentional derailment of discussions
  • Spam or off-topic promotion
  • Manipulation or coercion

Privacy and Confidentiality Violations

  • Sharing private information without consent
  • Recording conversations without permission
  • Violation of confidentiality agreements
  • Doxxing or sharing personal details

Reporting Mechanisms

If you witness or experience unacceptable behavior:

Reporting Options

  1. Direct communication – Address concerns directly with the person if safe and comfortable
  2. Issue reporting – Use GitHub issues for public concerns
  3. Private reporting – Email maintainers for sensitive issues
  4. Third-party reporting – Seek support from trusted community members

What to Include in Reports

  • Description of incident or behavior
  • Context and impact
  • Parties involved (if comfortable sharing)
  • Any supporting evidence
  • Preferred outcomes or resolution

Confidentiality

Reports are treated with confidentiality to the extent possible. Reporters will not be retaliated against for good-faith reporting.

Conflict Resolution

Resolution Process

  1. Initial Response – Acknowledge receipt and concern
  2. Investigation – Gather information from involved parties
  3. Discussion – Engage parties in resolution discussion
  4. Determination – Apply code of conduct standards
  5. Action – Implement appropriate consequences
  6. Follow-up – Verify compliance and ongoing appropriateness

Possible Consequences

  • Verbal warning and discussion
  • Written warning
  • Temporary suspension from community
  • Permanent removal from community
  • Escalation to external authorities if necessary
