I just waited 3 minutes for Maya to load a .usdz of a forklift truck because I clicked on the layer to view it.

I love the ability to see the code within each USD layer. But in most cases, I just care to see the structure of the USD file. To see all of the thousands of individual vertex positions, primvar colors, UV coordinates, is great, but less usefull. And most importantly: extremely slow to load, and tedious to scroll through.

It would be incredible if we could have a checkbox that would collapse all such indices by default, to eliminate endless scrolling, and only explicitly load them when we want to see them, by turning off the checkbox.

Hope such a feature is possible to implement!

There is a USD tool called sdffilter that has an option --outputType with setting pseudoLayer is similar to the usda file format but with truncated array values and timeSamples for human readability. Would something like that work if we were to implement an option the Layer Editor?
