data-sayt-exclude removes element from page

When I add data-sayt-exclude to an element, it disappears from the page as soon as I type any data into the form. Reading the code, it should only be removing the element from theformClone. I don't know what I'm doing to cause this behavior. Has anyone seen this?

In getFormData() at the end of the file, changing:
var workingObject = $.extend({}, theform);
To:
var workingObject = theform.clone();

Worked for me.

I haven't tried it since the recent change with the comment "jQuery's clone method is basically borked". Is the "theform.clone()" edit still necessary?

Tomicapo, I tried your suggestion and it worked. Thank you. Also answered my own question in the process. The latest commit of sayt.jquery.js (1.4.3 in the file header; 1.4.4 in github) is still broken.

Tomicapo, after I made that edit, select items don't save properly. After changing back to released code select items save again.

Function completely rewritten

Fixed! Totally changed the way to exclude fields.

Sorry about the radio silence... I did test your code and found that the data-sayt-exclude keyword didn't work at all. So I reverted back to the last release and it still didn't work. Since I haven't had time to figure out why this is happening, I haven't commented here.

Though I never did figure out why it wasn't working for me the other day (undoubtedly something dumb I was doing) it is working perfectly today. Thanks for implementing a solution for this issue!

This was the best fix I could come up with. I had problems with it being removed, then I used clone and it was ignoring my dropdown selections so it wouldn't autosave selects.

Had issues with all "clone" fixes. Solution is to not clone. (more ethical this way)
