Watch all users' files

My setup is a bit odd, but all home directories are stored on a NFS. The data directory is symlinked to the NFS so that all home directories go straight there. This means that the NFS isn't an external drive as far as NextCloud is concerned, so inotifyscan doesn't automatically check it. There are users who are added as they log onto nextcloud through LDAP. Is there any way to tell it to blanket statement check every user?

I guess there are two different feature requests here: one is to support watching all users' home directories, the other is to watch new users added through LDAP on the fly. Is that right?

For the first feature, I think a special configuration like user = * can be added for watching all users' files. This should be easy to do.

For the second feature, however, I need to know what happens when a new user is added through LDAP. If nextcloud can trigger some kind of event to restart inotifyscan, that'll be great. Otherwise, inotifyscan will have to poll the list of users every couple of minutes/hours/days, which adds more complexity.

Anyways, I won't have bandwidth to implement new features for this project until later this year. If anyone is interested and can give me a hand, that'll be great. Otherwise, we'll have to wait for a couple of months :)

Also, before I spend time on this issue, I would like to point out that remote NFS does not work with inotify. Only events generated on the server running inotify will be captured. Please make sure this is OK in your use cases.

Has there been any progress on this? Making it so that it watches the nextcloud directories, along with the external files, would be a great change as it would remove the need for an occ:scan script to repair issues where files are changed/added without using the nextcloud client (which is a terrible piece of software).
