A friend and I between us have three Japanese TRS-80 Model Is. It may be worth mentioning in your docs that many Japanese Model Is have the 170069G mainboard; all three of ours do. The part numbers on the bottom label are 26-01004-G, 26-7016 on a sticker over whatever's below it, 26-7016. They all have the Japanese keyboard (kana layout, ROMs on the keyboard PCB, one extra 2 KB ROM) and the kana charset ROM. There is only one charset ROM socket on the board.
The charset ROM is a 8046671 with date code 7934. It's a DIP-18N that appears to be pinout-compatible with the Motorola MCM6670/74. We dumped it using a Backbit Chip Tester Pro V2 (this required a firmware update on that device); you can find the dump in the rom/charset/ directory of my trs80i34-re repo.
