The Impact Stories is the only section we don't have content (or ideas for content) for and one of our goals for the v1 release is to have content in each category. We can use this space to define the scope of what this section can look like when soliciting content from the community.

Below is rough idea for consideration defining the scope of Impact Stories contributions to help translate water research, fieldwork, or data projects into an engaging narrative. This highlights essential elements such as the core challenge, the approach, and the lessons learned along the way. We want to make it simple for contributors to share their real-world experiences with the broader CUAHSI community.

The Challenge

Briefly describe the real-world problem or theory your work addresses. The goal of this section is to contextualize theory with real-world complexities. Help the reader understand the "why" behind your project.

Example: "Understanding water quality dynamics across U.S. rivers requires continuous, high-frequency data. However, existing sensor datasets are often fragmented, poorly formatted, and difficult to harmonize for broad-scale research..."

The Approach

Describe the project, methodology, or process you undertook. This is where you explain the "how." Keep the tone accessible and conversational; think of this as a blog post or documentary rather than a rigid academic paper.

Example: "To bridge this gap, we collaborated across institutions to compile and clean data from multiple disparate sensor networks..."

Real-World Impact

What were the results of your work, and why do they matter to the broader water education and research community? Highlight how this project brings theory into practical reality.

Lessons Learned

Impact stories often serve as "Lessons Learned" reports. Share your candid reflections on the process. What hurdles did you face while doing this work? What tools saved you time, and what would you do differently next time? This is often the most valuable section for other community members aiming to do similar research.
