Location: Somewhere in the city. The address is not the point.

Persona: The Host

Shown

  • A small room. Lit from inside. Dark outside the glass.
  • The console. Faders, levels, the on-air light. Red when live.
  • The microphone. Always on when the light is red.
  • The phone lines. Six of them. One or two lit at any time. The others waiting.
  • The headphones. On the desk, not worn yet.
  • The window into the booth. Nobody on the other side right now.
  • The door to the corridor. Fluorescent light beyond it. The building is nearly empty. Not entirely.
  • The city, outside. Not visible. Present in every call that comes in.

Holds

  • The dedications log. Every call tonight, name and song, in the Host's handwriting.

Offers

  • The open line. Whoever calls, the call is taken.
  • The on-air light. The Host decides when it goes red.

Withheld

  • The screened calls are still in her handwriting. She didn't write them down. That's how she knows they're there.
