Disable All Updates is still broken

I don't know how but it keeps fixing itself and re-enabling updates. Now that we are in the age of ID verification we are like one update away from the system to be bricked. Maybe putting encryption lock or password protection on some files and folders might stop this from happening.

so you clicked on disable updates than restarted your pc and when you logged back in and went into settings you could still update?

Not right after restart. But after some time. I think maybe after a game updates and it installs a direct x update, visual studio code, .net etc. I suspect if any of the MS apps or features gets updated even outside windows updates it repairs the windows update functionality. But I also think it has fixed itself while in sleep mode too for some reason.

I checked earlier this boot cycle that updates was still disabled. But after getting a Defender scan summary notification I checked again and now updates was enabled again.

So I think maybe Defender does some kind of registry repair or maybe uses registry backups to revert to default.

registry backups wouldn't effect disable all updates

What do you think of Defender doing something to enable them again or is that just a wrong assumption as well?

i tought about it and registery backups would revert disable updates, and defender reverting it makes sense because defender needs security updates from windows updates
