Feat: Add a Release Page for Contributors Leaderboard

Currently, the Contributors Leaderboard only shows overall contributor rankings. There is no dedicated place to highlight specific releases or acknowledge contributors who worked on individual release cycles from different repositories (e.g. Mobile App, Vue Simulator).

As a result:

• Contributors are not recognized per release
• Major releases from different repos are not easily discoverable
• Maintainers have no central place to link release acknowledgements

Describe the solution you'd like

Introduce a Releases page for the Contributors Leaderboard that:

• Lists releases from repositories such as:
  • Mobile App
  • Vue Simulator
  • (and other relevant repos)
• Shows a short summary for each release
• Highlights top contributors for that specific release
• Can be linked from announcements or release notes

This page should focus on recognition and visibility, not detailed changelogs.

This page can act as:

• Public acknowledgment for contributors
• A historical record of releases across repos
• A single source of truth for contributor recognition per release

I’d like to work on this issue.

My idea is to add a simple Releases page that focuses on contributor recognition rather than detailed changelogs.

Initial scope:

Start with a couple of repos like Mobile App and Vue Simulator

Keep the structure flexible so more repos can be added later

Data source:

Use GitHub Releases to show recent releases (tag, date, short summary)

Highlight contributors who were active around that release (PRs / commits)

UI idea:

A /releases page

Each release shown as a card with:

Release name + repository

Short summary

Top contributors for that release

I’ll start with a small, frontend-only version and improve it based on feedback.

Hi @Atharva7126 , based on my analysis of your Contributors Leaderboard, here's my proposal:

1. I recommend starting with these CircuitVerse repositories:

• CircuitVerse/CircuitVerse (Main application)
• CircuitVerse/Mobile-App (Mobile application)
• CircuitVerse/cv-frontend-vue (Vue Simulator)
• CircuitVerse/leaderboard (This dashboard itself)

These can be configured in config.yaml to allow easy expansion.

2. Primary Approach:

GitHub Releases API
Similar to your current leaderboard data generation:

• A new script scripts/generateReleases.ts will fetch release data using the GitHub API
• Generate a static JSON file: public/releases/all-releases.json
• GitHub Actions workflow runs periodically (e.g., every 12 hours or on demand)
• Data includes:
  • Release name, tag, publish date
  • Description/summary (first 200 chars of release notes)
  • List of contributors for that release (extracted from commits between tags)
  • Repository information

3. UI/UX Approach:

Page Structure: /releases

Hero Section:

• Page title: "CircuitVerse Releases"
• Subtitle: "Celebrating contributors across our ecosystem"
• Optional filter/search by repository

Main Content:

1. Timeline based Layout :

• Vertical timeline with releases sorted by date (newest first)
• Each release card shows:
  • Repository badge (color-coded: Mobile App = blue, Vue Simulator = green, etc.)
  • Release name & version tag
  • Release date (relative time: "2 weeks ago")
  • Short summary (truncated with "Read more" link)
  • Top 3-5 contributors with avatars (circular, overlapping)
  • Total contributor count badge
  • "View on GitHub" link

2. Alternative: Grid Layout

• Cards in a responsive grid
• Better for scanning multiple releases
• Each card similar structure to timeline

Interactivity:

• Click on a release card → expand inline to show:
  • Full contributor list with stats (commits, additions, deletions)
  • Sortable contributor table
  • Link to full release notes on GitHub
• Repository filter tabs at top
• Search functionality

Design Aesthetics:

• Match your current theme (CircuitVerse green: #50B78B)
• Glassmorphism cards with subtle animations
• Hover effects on contributor avatars (show contributor name + stats)
• Smooth expand/collapse animations
• Responsive design (mobile-first)

I’ve implemented a dynamic Releases page that:

• Fetches releases from multiple CircuitVerse repositories
• Highlights top contributors per release (based on commits between tags)
• Is auto-updated via a GitHub Actions workflow

To avoid any additional complexity in this PR, I think it would be best to:

• Merge this PR as it fully addresses the original issue for the Mobile App
• Close the current issue once this is merged
• Open a separate follow-up issue specifically for Vue Simulator releases

This way we can keep each change focused and easier to review.

Happy to take up the Vue Simulator releases in a separate PR after this

I’ve added a dedicated Vue Simulator tab within the Releases page UI.

Since the Vue Simulator repository doesn’t have GitHub Releases yet, the section currently shows a clear placeholder message:
“No releases yet for Vue Simulator.”

This is intentional — once maintainers start publishing releases in cv-frontend-vue, the data will automatically appear here without any code changes.

This keeps the UI future-ready while avoiding any hardcoded or fake release data.

Please let me know if this approach works for you, or if you’d prefer a different UX for repositories without releases.
