"Settings > Version Control > Log" is not available in settings when no project is open

Description

As title, I need open a project with git tab in editor first, but after restart, I can't close git editor tab. So I have two git tab in same time.

not quite sure what you mean, could you provide a screenshot please?

if you don't want the git log to be shown in the main editor window, you can uncheck "Show the log in the editor window" in "Settings > Version Control > Log". is that setting not visible for you?

hmm interesting. i suspect it may be because the Log section has the project settings icon meaning it would have no effect if configured without a project open (although that doesn't explain why all the other project settings secttions are still there). i've opened an issue on youtrack for this

in the mean time, i can probably just move the setting elsewhere. as a workaround you can open a project, then change the setting.

(it was my intention for this to be a system wide setting so ideally you shouldn't have to configure this per-project)
