"Open Worktree" option should not replace "Checkout"

here u see that i could open a worktree but i wanna check it out in my main checkout folder there is no easy way to remove it AFAIK

yeah i agree this is annoying. this seems to be the result of an arbitrary limitation in git itself:

$ git checkout foo
fatal: 'foo' is already used by worktree at '/path/to/other-worktree'

but you can workaround it with --ignore-other-worktrees, so there's no reason for git GUIs to follow this pointless limitation as far as i can tell. i've opened an issue on youtrack for this

as a workaround you can expand "Tracked branch 'origin/..." and check it out from there

you can remove a worktree from the "Worktrees" tab on the git tool window:

Open Worktree has no visible effect in my case. The linked worktree is valid in Git, but opening its directory in Rebased makes it appear as a non-Git project. This reproduces with a standard linked-worktree .git file.

No repository name, path, branch, remote, or commit data is included here.

that sounds like a different issue. could you open a separate issue and provide some more info please:

• how are you creating the worktree? through rebased, the git CLI or something else?
• does the repo have submodules in it?
• what version of git are you on
• does the same thing happen in IDEA (or any other official jetbrains IDE)?
• your OS & rebased version
