I made a website to learn HTML/CSS and display my CV in a public place.

Ella's Personal Website TODO

Troubleshooting/running to do list

  • Make nav bar have a button hover color
  • Stop the clicked links from being purple
  • More space above the buttons on the homepage
  • Change the color of the text for Linkedin etc. buttons - I don't like it as much on the buttons, but it's fine on the header. Also, ideally the text would be lighter when the button is being hovered over and turns darker
  • Make title "ELLA CROTTY" link to homepage WITHOUT UNDERLINING
  • Make header menu look less weird in thin screen/mobile - top and bottom padding? resizing?
  • Add more images (lab group photos) to research page
    • Check attribution on Hollings symposium pic
    • Find PMEL intern group photo
  • Add SIO to research page
  • 2026 CV updates
    • Add CalCOFI sketchnotes to outreach page
    • Add more details to Semmens Lab section of CV
    • Add SWMS membership
  • Add images of me to the homepage
  • Add WSN25 presentation to publications & presentations page
  • Compress GoPro images on homepage
  • Posters as images instead of pdfs

Basic Formatting

  • Create index.html and style.css
  • Choose different color & font to distinguish from swim lesson site
  • Add all pages and menu buttons

  • Add GitHub and LinkedIn and ResearchGate links
  • Upload images to GitHub repo - some of me doing research, some underwater kelp photography for front page

  • CV - Full CV just like the google doc
  • Publications & Presentations - list from CV, get PDFs of:
    • AGU24/Reed symposium poster

  • Research - more detailed explanations of projects, maybe some images or PDF embeds of presentations and thesis? link PMEL blog post?
  • Teaching & Outreach - tutoring, TAing, volunteer work, science communication
  • Illustration - science-relevant art, lab notebook illustrations, graphical abstracts. Get images:

    • Sand tiger watercolor

Publishing

  • Buy a domain (ideas include: ellacrottyocean.com, ellacrottyscience.com)
  • Turn on email address obfuscation and anti-scraping
  • Attatch GitHub repository
