I have been working on a reverse engineering project for a while with the goal of extracting out a high-resolution map of the game. https://github.com/waynepiekarski/battletech-maps contains my patches to the BTECH.EXE to allow walking through walls and over water, as well as a modified DosBox that can walk the character around the entire universe, capture screenshots with coordinates, stitch them together, and save a 16384x16384 PNG with a pixel accurate map of the entire world. Viewing the image requires 768MB of memory, so this was not possible back in the day. I hope you find this map interesting!
