Gas Usage Testing Implementation - Issue #320

Overview

This implementation addresses the missing gas usage validation in tests by providing a comprehensive gas testing framework for all Gathera smart contracts. The solution includes gas measurement, benchmarking, regression monitoring, and detailed reporting capabilities.

✅ Acceptance Criteria Completed

1. Add gas usage assertions to tests

  • Status: ✅ Completed
  • Implementation:
    • Created GasTestFramework with measurement and assertion capabilities
    • Added gas usage assertions to ticket contract tests (test_gas.rs)
    • Added gas usage assertions to escrow contract tests (test_gas.rs)
    • Provided macros for convenient gas assertions (assert_gas_usage!, assert_gas_range!)

2. Benchmark gas consumption

  • Status: ✅ Completed
  • Implementation:
    • Created comprehensive benchmark suite (gas_benchmarks.rs)
    • Established baseline gas usage for all critical operations
    • Implemented scaling analysis for batch operations
    • Added cross-contract benchmarking

3. Test gas limit scenarios

  • Status: ✅ Completed
  • Implementation:
    • Created gas limit scenario testing (gas_limits.rs)
    • Tests extreme batch sizes, memory pressure, and computational stress
    • Validates contract behavior under various gas constraints
    • Includes edge case testing (zero gas, high limits)

4. Monitor gas regression

  • Implementation:
    • Built gas regression monitoring system (gas_regression.rs)
