Should the donate button be removed?

This button is in https://github.com/jquery/jquery-wp-content/blob/fde0aab5962510e619a1475bde944eeb87b94ba1/themes/jquery/header.php#L113 which is used by a lot of former JS Foundation sites. I'd be glad to remove it myself or change it to an OpenJSF page but I don't have the ability to actually rebuild the site to test and and redeploy it.
