Hi everyone, I'm Vidit! 👋
I’m a B.Tech undergrad at IIT Kharagpur and an active member of our robotics society. My background is heavily rooted in hardware and embedded control—I’ve built multiple complex bots using Arduinos, steppers, and custom mechanisms, and I've won the World Robot Olympiad (WRO) regionals twice (qualifying for nationals both times).
While I love building physical control loops, I’m actively shifting my focus to middleware and high-fidelity simulation. The work JDErobotics is doing with ROS2 and Gazebo is exactly what I want to dive into for GSoC 2026.
To get a head start, I’ve already set up my development environment on my laptop using WSL2 (Ubuntu) and Docker for the RADI (Robotics Academy Docker Image) stack.
I am currently gearing up to tackle the Programming Challenges to complete my application. In the meantime, I would love to start getting my hands dirty with the codebase. Could anyone point me toward some good first issues or specific repositories where I can start contributing and submitting PRs?
Looking forward to collaborating with you all! 🚀
