I was setting it up on Kubuntu 23.10, with Wayland, and saw the notice about being able to set shortcuts by default. But I think this can be done by adding things to the .desktop file, regardsless of Wayland or not? E.g., take a look at hos KDE does it for konsole: https://github.com/KDE/konsole/blob/master/desktop/org.kde.konsole.desktop#L12. I believe something similar should work even if using Wayland, but I'm not sure how colliding shortcut combinations are resolved.
