Unable to use custom data types with PDO instance initialization

Custom DBAL types are not registered when Doctrine is initialized with PDO instance.

I'm sorry this doesn't work but it would be too much extra work to fix this now. I'd preffer to rather finish spliting this package which will solve this issue as a side-effect.
