[User Research] How do researchers work with scientific papers and protein structure data?

Hi MDAnalysis community,

I'm David Esteban, a User Experience (UX) designer working on a startup developing a tool to help researchers work more efficiently with scientific papers, particularly around protein structure data.

The challenge we're exploring:
Researchers currently spend 4+ hours reading and extracting data from a single paper. We're investigating ways to streamline this while maintaining scientific rigour.

I'm conducting user research to understand:

• How researchers work with scientific papers
• Workflows for extracting protein structure data
• How tools like the Protein Data Bank and analysis tools like MDAnalysis fit into daily research

Looking for participants who:

• Work in molecular biology, biochemistry, computational chemistry, drug discovery, or related fields
• Regularly read scientific papers
• Are available for a 20-25 minute video interview (Thursday 8th - Thursday 15th January 2026)
