Edge-to-edge may not display for all users
From Android 15, apps targeting SDK 35 will display edge-to-edge by default. Apps targeting SDK 35 should handle insets to make sure that their app displays correctly on Android 15 and later. Investigate this issue and allow time to test edge-to-edge and make the required updates. Alternatively, call enableEdgeToEdge() for Kotlin or EdgeToEdge.enable() for Java for backward compatibility.

For first one, I think they expect we use enableEdgeToEdge to enable it for not only Android 15+ but all Android versions.

For second one, I do not remember seeing any use of those in the codes so need to check again or it may be that those deprecated APIs are called by Material library for backward compatibility.

Looks like 2nd one is Material library issue that will only be fixed once upgrade to 1.14 (now still in beta and requires Android 6) material-components/material-components-android@c2051db

There will be a minSdkVersion jump to 23 so Android 5.x support would be dropped. I still have... ~10 users (<0.1%) on them, well, I'll see when we upgrade...

Just need add one more dependency and need more testing on older Android version to ensure it is displayed properly and no content overlap with navigation bars.

WhatsApp plans to kick Android 5.x soon but not yet done, well... I would keep it for the moment until something bigger requires it.
so older version for the moment, and we plan at some point next year to kick Android 5.x.

For reference, Google Play Services already dropped support for Android 5, Firefox dropped support for Android 7 and Chrome dropped support for Android 9.

@cjee21 I try to avoid to break the support of old platforms if I have another solution, for all platforms, here it does not seem to bring something to break support right now beside some warnings in the Play Store console, so I plan to do something like the last date between WhatsApp date and when Material library 1.14 is released.
It will be the first time we drop the support of an Android version :-p.

A WIP PR could be created for not forgetting what could be done when we drop Android 5 support.

If you see some other cleanup doable after a drop of Android 5, let me know.

Previously dropped < Android 5 due to upgraded toolkit needed for supporting Android 15 is not compatible. Resulted in ability to update most dependencies, cleaning up some legacy code and no longer needed version checks in code as well as removing an old unmaintained dependency.

I do not know yet if Material library 1.14 will bring Material Expressive out of alpha/beta. If yes then we have another benefit but that is not very important as well. Just more modern design for certain elements.
