Should milestones be a parent of tasks?

I think of milestones more like a measurable point in a project's development, or a short term / medium term goal of where to get to.

Sometimes it depends on the project or phases of.the project but milestones can sometimes house tasks, or just be something alongside tasks..

So I'm not sure what I'm describing here but curious about your take on this @MrLesk

I see milestones as a complete feature you are able to ship to production.

For me they are synonyms of epics.
