I noticed one difference. The original app never shows a notification when the charger is unplugged. But Battery Charge Limiter shows the "Maintaining from" (or "Charging to") notification. This notification does not make sense, when the charger is unplugged.

Exactly! I agree and consider this a feature request.
Ideally, it would look like this:

• no plugged = no notification
• plugged and charging = notification that charging to limit (as now)
• plugged and discharging = maintaining limits x% - y% (as now when unplugged)
• Instead of a button to "Open app", tapping a whole notification brings the application
