Thank you for your inquiry and interest regarding research using the FastEddy model. The parameterized effects of canopy on momentum and sub-grid scale TKE can be included in a FastEddy simulation by prescribing the three-dimensional distribution of leaf area density through the CanopyLAD field in an initial conditions file (e.g. inFile=FE_CANOPY.0) then turning the current canopy parameterization on with canopySelector = 1. Note: srcAuxScFile is a file used to prescribe source emission characteristics of auxiliary passive scalars which is not related to canopy specification. At this time the FastEddy documentation for canopy is limited to that found within the Canopy tutorial as you have suggested. Please let us know of any of specific aspects related to FastEddy which may be of benefit to the user community with further clarifications. Thank you again, |

Dear FastEddy Team,
I am currently working on validation of real-world FastEddy simulations against WRF-LES in Perdigão, and as part of this effort, I would like to include canopy models in FastEddy.
Could you please clarify:
My current understanding is that this involves populating the CanopyLAD array in FE_CANOPY.0, and then enabling canopy physics in the input file with:
canopySelector = 1
srcAuxScFile = ./FE_CANOPY.0
Could you kindly confirm if this is the correct workflow, or if there are additional steps I should consider?
Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you for your support.
Best regards,
Armin
