Error Deploying CVO New Generation (Hyperdisk + C3 Instances) HA Pair to GCP

Hi,
We are attempting to deploy a Cloud Volumes ONTAP (CVO) HA pair to GCP using hyperdisk-balanced disks and c3-standard-8 instances, but we are encountering the following error:

Hyperdisk-balanced disks and C3 instance types (such as c3-standard-8) are supported for GCP CVO HA, but only for Shared HA in a Single Availability Zone (SAZ) deployment — not for the traditional HA architecture that includes a mediator instance.

The error you are seeing:

"HA deployments with mediator do not support hyperdisk-balanced disk type or C3 instance types."

means the deployment is being treated as HA with mediator. That architecture does not support hyperdisk-balanced or C3 instances.

Workaround

You can still deploy traditional HA with n2 instance types and pd-* disk types but with hyperdisk-balanced and c3 instance type HA deployment will be considered as Shared HA deployment (no mediator)

Deploy Shared HA (no mediator) with these requirements:

Same zone for both nodes — node1Zone and node2Zone must be identical (SAZ only; multi-zone is not supported for this configuration today).
Do not provide mediatorZone and providedMediatorImage.
Use hyperdisk-balanced and a C3 instance type — e.g. c3-standard-8 with gcpVolumeType = "hyperdisk-balanced".
Do not use mediator networking — omit vpc3DataReplication and subnet3DataReplication (those are only for HA with mediator).

When mediatorZone is empty and both nodes are in the same zone, Cloud Manager deploys Shared HA, which uses shared multi-writer hyperdisk-balanced disks and does not provision a mediator VM.
