passing options to the formatter

in my particular usecase passing the value "--indent=4" to nixfmt to change the nix formatter indentation width

you can pass them to the conform config. I believe something like vim.formatter.conform.formatters.nixfmt.argsAfter = ["--indent=4"]

yea, that should work. alternatively, somebody could upstream to conform.nvim, that they also use the config from for example the .editorconfig as well.

basicly similar to what I did in stevearc/conform.nvim#862 for tex-fmt
