Code of Conduct

Short version

Be kind. Be specific. Argue about ideas, not people. Assume good faith; extend it again after one bad interaction.

This project exists because people are willing to publish what worked and what didn't on real production deployments. That's only sustainable if contributors feel safe being wrong in public. So:

  • Disagreement is welcome. "This is wrong and here's why" is the point of a technical guide.
  • Hostility is not. Attack arguments, not the person making them. No personal insults, no "you obviously haven't read X," no grandstanding.
  • Inclusivity is load-bearing. Nothing in this guide should assume the reader is a particular gender, nationality, employer, age, or income bracket.
  • Privacy matters. Don't paste someone else's logs, keys, or internal URLs without their explicit sign-off, even (especially) when demonstrating a problem.

What to do if something goes wrong

  1. If you can, handle it directly and kindly. Most conflicts are misreads; a quick "hey, that landed rough — did you mean X?" resolves 90%.
  2. If you can't, or if it's repeated, escalate to the maintainers. Open a private vulnerability report (see SECURITY.md) with [Conduct] in the title, or DM the maintainer listed on the project's X/Matrix profile.
  3. Expect a reply within 7 days. We'll take the report seriously, investigate, and act. Responses range from a quiet conversation to permanent removal from the project — proportional to the conduct.

Coverage

This applies in:

  • GitHub issues, discussions, PRs, and reviews on this repo.
  • Any community spaces that explicitly reference this guide (Discord threads, Matrix rooms, conference chats).
  • Private DMs about this project.

Attribution

Inspired by the Contributor Covenant and the Rust Code of Conduct. Kept short on purpose — a long CoC nobody reads is worse than four paragraphs people actually internalize.
