CI/CD Pipeline Hardening Summary - 2026-07-28

Overview

This cleanup wave focused on repository stability, CI command reliability, and production correctness has been completed. All critical and high-priority issues have been resolved.

✅ Critical Issues Fixed (Priority 0)

1. Invalid Docker Base Image Digest

Problem: Dockerfile used dummy SHA256 digest causing build failures Fix: Updated to valid debian:bookworm-slim digest File: Dockerfile line 68 Impact: Eliminates "invalid digest format" build failures

2. Security Audit Configuration

Problem: 20+ CVE ignores inline in CI without justification Fix: Centralized to .cargo/audit.toml with documented rationales Files: .github/workflows/ci.yml, .cargo/audit.toml Impact: Clear audit trail, proper security governance

3. Action Version Inconsistencies

Problem: Mixed versions causing unpredictable CI behavior Fixes:

  • actions/setup-python@v5@v6 in maintenance.yml
  • aquasecurity/trivy-action@v0.35.0@v0.36.0 in security-scan action Impact: Consistent, reproducible CI runs

✅ High Priority Issues Fixed (Priority 1)

4. Rust Cache Misconfiguration

Problem: Deprecated cache-all-crates causing cache thrashing Fix: Updated to explicit cache-directories with save optimization File: .github/actions/setup-rust/action.yml Impact: Faster cache restoration, reduced cache size

5. Enhanced Error Handling

Status: Verified existing retry logic for cargo tools Confirmed: Robust retry patterns already in place Impact: Resilient against transient network failures
