Lowercase 'l' blocks preceding 'f'

Really like this font, but have noticed that when a word contains the letters 'fl' (in lowercase), the L appears to have some negative space that blocks out some of the F. For example, notice the difference in 'fourth floor':

Is this part of the design? Or if not...any likelihood of it being fixed?
