minutely precipitation implementation #633

Hi all, My app AccessiWeather has had PW as a supported weather source for a bit now, ever since I found out about it. I've been able to implement pretty much everything I need, however one thing bugs me a bit and I don't know whether its my implementation, or that feature not being fully developed. Basically, the minutely precip readings I've been getting back have been basically wrong. AccessiWeather, as far as I'm aware, is the first native desktop app using desktop notifications to send Pirate Weather alerts, and this includes precip, E.G. rain starting in ten minutes. On my first implementation, I had a notification fire whenever PW sent a precip event and my app would fire off a notification when it gets near-term. Now, however, since its often wrong, I just have it check near-term and have it fire a notification ten minutes or less to avoid unnecessary spam. Sometimes PW says that precip will start when it never actually does, so is there any way I can decrease the chances that its wrong? Also, any chance for lightning data in the future like Carrot Weather has? |

Hello, thanks for reaching out, and love to hear that you're using Pirate Weather data for a desktop app. As far as I know I don't think that's been done before, so very cool! Re: the minutely precipitation- where about in the world are you? It's possible there's an issue with minutely, and I'd love to get this a little more accurate. Re: Lightning- are you thinking a forecast or lighting strike nearby alert? We do have a thunderstorm forecast, but I'd have to track down a lightning strike data source for the latter. |

Hello,
I'm located in New Jersey, specifically Lumberton, New Jersey in the United States. However, this minutely issue extends all over the US; I have issues in Texas to Michigan and some say it's just flat out wrong, or sometimes its right and sometimes it's not, but it's more times incorrect than correct.
As for lightning, I figured that, like the precip for rain, we could have thunder/lightning information also presented like this.
HTH.

Thanks for the update! That's well within the high res domain, so really should be working. Two things:
