It was announced that the RRFS and REFS models will come into production on August 31st, 2026 (see: https://www.weather.gov/media/notification/pdf_2026/scn26-48_RRFS_and_REFS_Implementation.pdf)

It will replace the NAM, HiresW (except the Guam domain), HREF, and NARRE models and will replace HRRR in the future.
