Light helpers seem to initialize and scale decently well for common (for us) scenes, but have issues when added to very large environments or when occluded by geometry.
This could be solved with a new element in all helpers that remains at fixed screen-space size regardless of position or zoom level. This way even if lights/helpers are very small there is still a visible indicator to follow. This sort of solution can be seen with Blender lights and seems to work well.
