🔍 What causes false positives?

Different antiviruses may respond differently to installing SpotX, as SpotX uses a system interpreter PowerShell to modify an application Spotify.

Also, most AV use heuristic analysis, which looks for threats based on assumptions or by matching its own set of rules. This imperfect method also leads to a high number of false positives.

✅ What should you do?

Step 1: Disable Your Antivirus

Important

Before running the SpotX patcher, temporarily disable or pause your antivirus protection.

Warning

Signs you need to disable your antivirus:

• The terminal window is forcibly closed
• Errors flagging the script as malicious
• The bat installation file is deleted

Step 2: Run the Installation

Once your antivirus is disabled, proceed with the SpotX installation.

Step 3: Re-enable Protection

After the installation is complete, you can turn your antivirus back on. If your AV then marks some files in the Spotify folder, add them to the exclusion list of your antivirus.

Tip

We do not provide instructions on how to disable AV protection or add files/folders to exclusions, as there are many different security systems and the process varies for each. The easiest solution if you don't know how to do this is to use Google.
