colours disappear when zoomed in

Sorry I guess this isn't really a bug- but is there a way to stop the colours disappearing when you zoom in? it occurs for the areas with lower density info (ie in the Pacific and PNG). I am using the MacroStrat layer in my website https://kudenfabrics.anu.edu.au/sites which revolves around the Pacific, and I realise the data is not great for that area, but it would be great if the colours could stay there for higher levels of zoom (Pacific islands are tiny). I don't think its an issue with how I've set up Leaflet as on your site- see screenshot it seems to occur as well.

Hi @tosca-har! What a cool website and project. And thanks for reporting these issues.

At higher zoom levels, we do not display low-precision global datasets, which causes issues in the large areas that do not have map coverage at regional-or-better scales. We are working on a new version of our main carto map compilation and we may revisit our approach to showing low-resolution data at that point. I will leave this issue open until we decide how to mitigate or solve.

The core problem is of course lack of data, so if you are aware of any digital geologic maps of your countries/islands of interest please do let us know. We do for instance have a map of New Caledonia in our ingestion queue, but there may be more we do not know about yet.

@tosca-har just looked back at your map. We are still planning to solve this problem with a new "best-available" mapping mode in the future. But in the meantime, you could make it slightly less acute by making the geology layer an "overlay" rather than a basemap in your UI.
