installer fails to label encrypted var partition correctly

Issue Description

After installation var partition won't be decrypted and mounted.

Steps to Reproduce

• Flashed ISO
• Install with manual partitioning
• No Swap Partition (because of Swap On bug)
• Select var partition encryption with password
• Install
• Reboot won't finish cause var partition isn't decrypted and mounted.

On what version of Vanilla OS this happens?

Vanilla OS 2 Orchid

Additional Information

Clean install empty drive. Manually partitioned with supplied GParted.
1000MiB /boot
512MiB /boot/efi
16GiB reserved for swap/hibernate
64GiB /
Rest of drive around 400+GiB /var

I know it's been quite a while, but what does "won't be decrypted" mean?
Is there an error?

I have possibly part of this this issue. I have two drives, I put efi (fat32), boot (ext2), root (btrfs) on one (no swap) and var (btrfs) on the other.

The last two messages I get:

[abroot-unlock-var]: could not find var drive
[init] (err): Error running hook: /usr/share/init.d/090-abroot-unlock-var.sh

also, no attempt was made to ask for my unlock phrase

using VanillaOS-2-stable.20250220.iso flashed onto a USB

Secure Boot is enabled, I also chose to install NVIDIA drivers (installer asked)

Other info;
Has always worked with other distros like fedora and universal blue.
Tried clearing TPM module, disabling secure boot, installing on different partition - no avail. No prompt to unlock

If you still have it installed it would be helpful if you could run:
ls -l /dev/mapper
From a terminal in a live-iso.

And if that doesn't contain vos--var-var, could you open gparted and share your disk layout?

Huh, interesting, it seems like the installer didn't label the filesystem correctly.
Try adding the partition label "vos-var" (With the "Name Partition" option in gparted) to the encrypted partition and then just boot into Vanilla.

Please report back if that worked. It would make fixing this issue easier.

BINGO!!!! Issue fixed! Named partition as vos-var and it DID ask me for encryption password! Thank you dev, looking forward to my vanilla OS adventures :) 🫡
