Commands work via the command line but Nagios returns a "null" value

Are you sure? Because it was working for me. If you tell more informations about your problem and system i.e. cfg file, sys info I could help and fix problem. Can you please open a new issue here:

I spent a few hours with it this morning. I have it fixed and it was a user error. It looks like nagios was calling Python 2.4 instead of Python 2.7. I got it fixed by changing the nagios command to call Python's 2.7 absolute path. Thanks!
