Drupal core update request

Hello dear maintainers,

The current version of Drupal is outdated and needs to be updated by the package. One friend and I opened posts on the forum on this matter but we've got no returns so far. Therefore I open this request here in the hope of you get notified. Below are the links of the mentioned posts:

I understand that the Drupal is not as popular as Wordpress and it does not have a enough priority maintanance schedule, but it still got its users though. So, I'd just like to know whether could you do an update for it?

Drupal should be updated automatically, there is a cron for auto-updating the core.

Another way to update drupal is to update from the command line: yunohost app upgrade drupal

Thanks for your reply. I've just tried the CLI command:

# yunohost app upgrade drupal
Info: Now upgrading drupal…
Success! drupal is already up-to-date
Success! Upgrade complete

Then I've headed to the drupal site to check the status. I'm still getting the same alert for the core security update. See the screenshots below.

What are your thoughts?

@yalh76 FYI: I've ended up updating it using the composer app. After installing the composer, I switch to the /var/www/drupal which is the root of the Drupal instance. Then I executed the following command:

composer update "drupal/core-*" --with-all-dependencies

This is a more detailed procedure that documented here: https://www.drupal.org/docs/updating-drupal/updating-drupal-core-via-composer

After the command exits successfully, the core and all its modules are updated.

I think this is the way to go with drupal update. What do you think?

you are right, it's what is made in the upgrade script:

drupal_ynh/scripts/upgrade

Hi @yalh76! So it does the updates with drush. That is nice. But it looks like it didn't work when I executed; yunohost app upgrade drupal command. It didn't make any difference on the application state. Does drupal need to be restarted somehow after the upgrade command issued?

Hey @kamazeuci,

I am not an php expert unfortunately but would like to help. I made a Google search for your error and find this stackoverflow post and this reddit post that might help to diagnose the issue.
Otherwise I would suspect that the composer installation wasn't made properly?

Hey @kamazeuci, here is another way to update drupal core within Yunohost. I assume you have the composer installed.

1. yunohost app shell drupal - Open drupal app shell in CLI
2. php composer.phar update - Perform update for all modules including the core
