Welcome to our fifth year of Akka.NET Community Standups! This is our official discussion thread for posting updates about each standup in 2026. WE ARE ACTIVELY LOOKING FOR SPEAKERS, SO PLEASE LOOK AT #5690 IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN CONTRIBUTING.

Akka.NET Community Standups are a once-a-month meeting that is live-streamed via Petabridge's YouTube channel.

Structure of Each Standup

1. Recap of most recent releases (10 min) - we talk about the work that was performed since the last standup, its impact on end-users, and what we learned in the course of performing that work.
2. Plans for future work (10 min) - what are we working on next, why, and why should users care?
3. Opportunities to contribute (5 min) - what help would we like from the Akka.NET end-user community?
4. Show and Tell (~20 min) - give members of the Akka.NET team and community opportunities to showcase their work built on top of Akka.NET. See Wanted: Akka.NET Community Standup "Show and Tell" Stories #5690 for opportunities to apply.
5. Q&A (~10 min) - show and tell presenters along with the Akka.NET team should take questions via YouTube Live from the audience.

Since the May standup we shipped 2 core releases (v1.5.68 → v1.5.69), an Akka.Hosting security patch, and ecosystem alignment to v1.5.68.

Recent releases

• Akka.NET v1.5.68 (May 17) — Tcp.CommandFailed fix on Linux (#8214), discarded stream-task faults observed (#8212), SynchronizationContext wrapped in ActorCell (#8182)
• Akka.NET v1.5.69 (June 12) — trace context across .Async() (#8246), cancellable ISourceQueue<T> offers (#8248), DistributedData propagation fix after pruning (#8220)
• Akka.Hosting v1.5.68 (May 18) — 🔒 OpenTelemetry bumped to 1.10.0 (#743)
• Akka.Management v1.5.68 (May 31) and Akka.Persistence.Redis v1.5.68 (June 1)

v1.6 is the performance year

A benchmark-driven overhaul of Akka.Remote, Akka.Streams, and serialization:

• Remote stream transport pipeline (#8240) — a wire-compatible Akka.Streams/Akka.IO TCP transport to replace the classic DotNetty path
• Source.ActorRef GraphStage migration (#8263, merged June 13) — +53% throughput, -35% latency in isolated benchmarks
• Pipe transport experiments (#8250, #8223, #8208) by @to11mtm
• AOT + serialization (#8218, #7903)
• Also tracking: BroadcastHub high-consumer perf (#8264) and async-enumerable source disposal (#8265)

Show & Tell: Agents Are Actors

Aaron presents Netclaw — a self-hosted, Apache 2.0 AI agent (source) built entirely on Akka.NET, where one persistent LlmSessionActor is the whole agent: event-sourced durable memory, a SessionPhase state machine where illegal interleavings can't happen, parallel tool calls journaled as they land, and supervised sub-agents as child actors.

Why it isn't a weekend demo: a single instance has done ~800M tokens of real engineering work over about two months, opening PRs, cutting releases, and fixing bugs. One of those is akkadotnet/akka.net#8181 (merged) — it filtered link-local APIPA addresses that were breaking cluster formation on Windows multi-NIC hosts. The agent built on Akka.NET made Akka.NET's own clustering more reliable.
