.mp4 wallpaper thumbnails doesn't appear

It works with the pipx package. Is there any chance that the AUR version will be fixed?

I don't think there's anything I can do, it seems to be caused by the dependency in AUR

I could open an issue where is appropriate. Is the problem related to the python-imageio-ffmpeg package?

Yes, it seems like imageio is causing this, when we do this:

import imageio
reader = imageio.get_reader(image_path)
first_frame = reader.get_data(0)

somethink breaks. But if you have python at hand, maybe you can try to run it on your specific video file (image_path) and see what's the error specifically.

I selected a .mp4 file as image_path and it seems ok.

Interesting! You're sure that your python uses imageio from AUR and not its own installation (via pip or anaconda or something)?

I never used pip or anaconda and pacman -Qe doesn't show python-imageio it must be from the AUR

For the record, I did use that pipx install waypaper from the #160.

Okay, could you please try the whole procedure then:

first_frame = reader.get_data(0)

pil_image = Image.fromarray(first_frame)
aspect_ratio = pil_image.height / pil_image.width
new_height = int(width * aspect_ratio)
resized_image = pil_image.resize((width, new_height))
resized_image.save(str(cache_file), "JPEG")

It's from common.py line 150, if any of this fails, then the code proceeds to generate a black placeholder.

installing python-imageio-ffmpeg fixed it for me
