Found this issue when using Etcher today. It appears as though unencrypted APFS formatted drives cannot be flashed as normal. Attempted flashing the same drives multiple times only for the application to never make it past the "Starting" section of the flashing process. Only when the drive was erased and reformatted as ExFAT was I able to correctly flash the image onto the drive.
Etcher version: 2.1.2
Drive Format: APFS unencrypted
ISO image: Ubuntu 24.04.2 Desktop.iso
Drive Type: USB SanDisk 3.2Gen1 Media 32Gb
Formatted To: Bootable MS-DOS (FAT12)
