How is progress tracked?

Hey, 

Periodically when I visit bento, my progress is no longer stored, and the interface makes it appear as if I should start from scratch. This is fine for me, as I just go to where I left off... but it does make it hard to track progress. How do you store/track data on progression through the tracks you've set up?
