* Fixes `pod 'Brightcove-Player-X/XCFramework'` installing 7.2.12 rather than the latest release. Release 7.2.13 removed the `Framework` subspec from the eight public pods and inlined the XCFramework configuration at the top level, which removed the `XCFramework` subspec name along with it. CocoaPods resolves a dependency on a subspec a version does not declare by falling back to the newest version that does, so a Podfile that spelled the subspec out explicitly kept resolving to 7.2.12 with no error at `pod install` — and, since 7.2.12 predates the CocoaPods deprecation added in 7.2.15, without the deprecation notice either. `XCFramework` is restored as an alias of the pod itself across Core, DAI, FreeWheel, GoogleCast, IMA, Omniture, Pulse and SSAI, so `pod 'Brightcove-Player-X/XCFramework'` and `pod 'Brightcove-Player-X'` install the same XCFramework. Affected projects need no Podfile change to move forward again, but dropping the subspec suffix is still recommended: the pods are deprecated in favor of the unified Swift Package at https://github.com/brightcove/brightcove-player-sdk-ios, and CocoaPods Trunk goes read-only on 02 Dec 2026.

Every other timed beacon — `impression`, `start`, `firstQuartile`, `midpoint` and `thirdQuartile` — was sent normally, so this affected only completed-view reporting. The end of an ad is now detected as a crossing between two playhead positions, matching how the Android SDK triggers the same beacon.

### SSAI Plugin for Brightcove Player SDK for iOS

#### Additions and Improvements

* Adds support for NextGen Live (Cloud Playout 2.0) SSAI streams. These streams are detected automatically and play through the SSAI session provider, with the countdown overlay, Learn More clickthrough, companion slots and ad tracking beacons working as they do for Legacy Live SSAI. Previously they fell back to plain playback with no ad features. Ad timing is correlated using `EXT-X-PROGRAM-DATE-TIME`, which the stream's manifest must carry. Open Measurement is supported for these streams on iOS when the session provider is created with an `omidPartner`: the `adVerifications` carried in the ad tracking payload open an OM ad session directly, with no VAST document involved.

* Adds `-[BCOVPlayerSDKManager createSSAISessionProviderWithUpstreamSessionProvider:options:]`, which accepts a `BCOVOUXSessionProviderOptions`. This is the only way to reach the session provider's options; the existing factory methods pass none.

* Adds `BCOVOUXSessionProviderOptions.live2AdsParams`, ad targeting parameters sent in the `adsParams` field of the NextGen Live session initialization request. The SSAI server uses them to replace macros in the ad tag URL.

* NextGen Live session initialization failures now fall back to content-only playback rather than failing the session. The original stream plays without ad features, and no error is surfaced to the viewer.

* NextGen Live errors are now reported with a typed code — `NETWORK_ERROR`, `INVALID_SESSION`, `TIMEOUT_ERROR`, `PARSE_ERROR`, `SESSION_ERROR` or `TRACKING_ERROR` — matching the taxonomy the Android SDK reports for the same failures. Each error carries a code, message, timestamp and context, and bridges to an `NSError` in the `BCOVSSAILive2ErrorDomain` domain.

* NextGen Live ad tracking beacons are now retried when a send fails. Each beacon uses a 5 second timeout and is retried up to three times, after 1, 2 and 4 seconds. A beacon rejected by the server — an HTTP 4xx other than 408 or 429 — is not retried, since the outcome cannot change. A beacon still undelivered after the final attempt is logged and dropped. Previously a beacon was sent once with no completion handler, so a send lost to a momentary network failure was neither retried nor reported.

* CocoaPods distribution of the Brightcove Player SDK is deprecated in favor of the unified Swift Package Manager package. The eight public pods (`Brightcove-Player-Core` and the seven plugin pods) are now marked deprecated, so `pod install` and `pod update` report the deprecation, and each pod also surfaces a compile-time message pointing at the unified package. * Fixes an IMA ad replaying its audio over content audio when the app is foregrounded after a mid-roll cuepoint was reached during backgrounding. The foreground auto-resume added in 7.2.10 now requires the ad to have actually started playing (`kIMAAdEvent_STARTED`) before the app resigned active, rather than merely being loaded — so an ad that IMA loaded while the app was backgrounded is no longer force-resumed on foreground.
* Fixes the IMA ad creative not appearing inline when `IMASettings.enableBackgroundPlayback = YES` (the shared-AVPlayer configuration required for PiP and AirPlay continuity across ads). The pre-roll content-layer hide added in 7.2.11 was hiding the shared `AVPlayerLayer` for the entire ad break — in shared-player mode the ad renders through that same layer, so only the IMA UI overlays (countdown, Learn More) were visible while audio played. The hide is now restored as soon as the ad's `kIMAAdEvent_STARTED` fires in shared-player mode; non-shared mode is unchanged.
* Fixes the iOS Picture-in-Picture overlay exposing seek / fast-forward / rewind controls during IMA ad breaks when `IMASettings.enableBackgroundPlayback = YES`. The PiP scrubber operates on the same `AVPlayer` that's playing the ad — letting the viewer scrub inside an ad break, which IAB SRG forbids. `BCOVIMASession` now sets `AVPictureInPictureController.requiresLinearPlayback = YES` for the duration of each ad break (also re-applied when the PiP controller is lazy-created during a pre-roll, so the seek UI is hidden even on the first ad of the session). Requires iOS 14+; no-op on earlier versions. Play/pause from the PiP overlay remains available per IAB SRG.

Tighten the gate with an upper bound once Apple ships a fix.

Particularly relevant for Live DAI, where stitched ad URLs have a short TTL and become unplayable after long periods of inactivity. The DAI session provider now detects terminal playback failures (`AVPlayerItemFailedToPlayToEndTimeNotification`, `AVPlayerItem.status == .failed`), AVAudioSession media-services resets, and long-background foreground transitions, and rebuilds its internal `IMAAdsLoader`, `IMAAdDisplayContainer`, `IMAAdsRenderingSettings`, and the shared `AVPlayer` before re-issuing the session chain. Recovery is gated on network reachability (`NWPathMonitor`) and a short cooldown. Enabled by default; to disable, pass `kBCOVDAIOptionAutomaticRecoveryEnabledKey: @NO` in the `options:` dictionary of `-[BCOVPlayerSDKManager createDAISessionProviderWithSettings:adsRenderingSettings:adsRequestPolicy:adContainer:viewController:companionSlots:upstreamSessionProvider:options:]`. This method, used for renewing the FairPlay license for an offline video, replaces the older method wtihout a `video` parameter. The video parameter is a recently retrieved `BCOVVideo` object from the Playback API or Playback Service class, and is used to provide updated key server exchange URLs. Key server URLs are set to expire after a certain amount of time, so this method will allow you to renew your licenses even after the original URLs have expired.

**FairPlay License Invalidation**

This method allows you to invalidate a FairPlay license before the license has expired, by deleting the license from storage. This is a secure way to make sure that the video is not playable on the device. If desired, a new license can be acquired using the `renewFairPlayLicense:video:parameters:completion:` method above.

A new error code, `kBCOVOfflineVideoManagerErrorCodeInvalidLicense` will be returned in a playback session lifecycle event of type `kBCOVPlaybackSessionLifecycleEventFail` if you attempt to play a video with an invalid license.

**FairPlay License Expiration Retrieval**

```
This method provides a convenient way to determine the date and time at which the video will no longer be playable. Normal FairPlay rental licenses return an `NSDate` object representing the expiration of the license. A purchase license, or videos without FairPlay, will return `NSDate.distantFuture`.

If the license was invalidated, or was never acquired, this method will return nil.

**Other Improvements**

- Improves task resume behavior for aggregate track downloads (secondary audio and caption tracks). Previously, a paused aggregate track download may not have been able to resume downloading if it was paused.

* `kBCOVOfflineVideoManagerAnalyticsStorageFullWarningNotification` is a new NSNotification name that you can register to observe. This notification is sent when the storage for offline analytics has reached a prescribed limit (500 MiB by default). When this occurs, you have the option of encouraging your user to go back online, at which point stored analytics data will be sent to Brightcove servers.

* `kBCOVOfflineVideoManagerAllowsCellularAnalyticsKey` is the dictionary key for a setting passed to the Offline Video Manager when it is initialized. You can pass @(YES) to allow analytics collected while offline to be transferred over a cellular connection. Pass @(NO) to only transfer over a WiFi connection. This setting is optional, and the default value is @(YES).

* `kBCOVOfflineVideoManagerAnalyticsStorageLimitKey` is the dictionary key for a setting passed to the Offline Video Manager when it is initialized. This setting is an NSNumber that determines the maximum amount of storage space (in Bytes) that will be allowed for storing analytics collected for videos played offline. The default value is 500 MiB, and may be set as low as 1 MiB. When the limit is reached, only video_view events will be stored, and other events will start being dropped.

* You can no longer download caption files using Sideband Subtitles in iOS 11. Sideband Subtitles is a workaround for incomplete track download support in iOS 10. As a result, you can no longer pass `kBCOVOfflineVideoManagerSubtitleLanguagesKey` as an option when requesting a video download. iOS 11 supports downloading of both subtitle and audio tracks; see "Addtions and Improvements" below for more details. ##### BCOVOfflineVideoStatus
The `BCOVOfflineVideoStatus` class includes a new property for managing secondary track downloads:

##### BCOVOfflineVideoManager
Secondary track include captions, subtitles, and audio tracks. You create a list of tracks to download as an array of AVMediaSelections, and iOS will download them all together using an AVAggregateAssetDownloadTask. You can only start a track download after the primary video has been downloaded.

BCOVOfflineVideoManager has several new methods to help you start and manage secondary track downloads. These new methods apply only to iOS 11.

This method is used to begin downloading additional caption and audio tracks. Track selections are specified as AVMediaSelections. This request can only be made after the related video download has completed. Be sure the  `offlineVideoToken:didFinishDownloadWithError:` delegate callback method has already been called for this video.

This method returns the AVMediaSelectionGroup for a downloaded video.
You can get the media selection group for audio or caption tracks by specifying AVMediaCharacteristicAudible or AVMediaCharacteristicLegible respectively.

This is a convenience method that returns the array of AVMediaSelectionOptions that have already been downloaded for an associated offline video as reported by the AVAssetCache for the underlying AVURLAsset.

You can specify AVMediaCharacteristicAudible or AVMediaCharacteristicLegible to find out what audio or caption tracks have been downloaded.

The `forceStopAllDownloadTasks` method is implemented as a workaround for a bug on iOS 11.0.x and iOS 11.1.x. On these iOS versions, a track download will resume to completion if it was paused and then cancelled. The only way to stop the download is to force all the downloads in progress to stop wtih an error.
 
This method should not be used on other versions of iOS; you can cancel an aggregate download task normally on iOS 11.2 by calling `cancelVideoDownload`.
