Project Status - No 1.36 releases

I noticed the last release is 1.35 from December 2025 but upstream K8s is at 1.36.2 currently. Additionally, microk8s has a 1.36 release.

Can you give an update on the project and explain why a 1.36 release isn't out yet?

Hi @rsyring , thank you for reaching out.

We are in the process of releasing 1.36. You can follow the progress we are making through the commit history and by deploying the snap from latest/edge. 1.36 will be the next LTS so we need to wait a bit for things (eg dependencies) to fall in the right place.

Is this delay causing you any trouble? What is your usecase?

I've just been comparing k8s distros for a possible deployment. ChatGPT flagged no 1.36 release as possibility the project was unhealthy. It also noted that there was some significant internal changes coming from 1.35 -> 1.36 and it made me think I didn't want to do an older install and then have to do some migration work right away when 1.36 was released.
