[Color token mapping] v12 design exploration #23125

Description

@laurenmrice

WIP Exploration in Figma

Acceptance criteria

  • Design needs to do an exercise on color token mapping with what we currently have to what we will have in v12.
  • Tasks here are still TBD, this issue still needs to be refined once the v12 Tribe has some more final information around this.
  • Needs to account for a shift from four themes to two – Light and Dark.
  • Do we need to support any sort of sub-theme? Light has options for Gray10 and White, High contrast or Low contrast, etc.
  • Do we need to consider generic brand tokens to make it easier for 3rd parties to white label Carbon?
  • Need clear mapping between OKLCH values and hex code/rgb fallbacks. Needed for Figma v12 library.
