Description

pgAdmin is an open-source administration and development platform for PostgreSQL. It provides a web-based graphical interface for managing PostgreSQL servers, databases, users, schemas, tables, queries, backups, and other database administration tasks.

Why should this be added?

pgAdmin is the official and widely used graphical administration tool for PostgreSQL.

Adding a pgAdmin script would make it easier for Proxmox VE users to deploy a dedicated, lightweight PostgreSQL management interface in an LXC container without having to manually configure the application, web server, Python environment, and dependencies.

It would be especially useful for users who run one or more PostgreSQL servers in their homelab or production environment and want a centralized web interface to manage them.

Installation Notes

• Can run independently from the PostgreSQL database servers it manages.
• Does not require PostgreSQL to be installed in the same LXC container.
• PostgreSQL servers can be added remotely using their hostname/IP address and port.
• The web interface can be exposed on port 80/443 through a web server or reverse proxy.
• pgAdmin also supports running directly as a web application.
• Requires Python and the dependencies provided by the official pgAdmin packages.
• Official DEB/APT packages, Python packages, Docker images, and source tarballs are available.
• A persistent data directory should be used for pgAdmin configuration, registered servers, and user data.
• Initial administrator email and password are required during setup.
• HTTPS can optionally be handled by an external reverse proxy such as Traefik, Nginx, Caddy, or Cloudflare Tunnel.
