Description

I installed Pelican Panel and Wings almost 2 Years ago.
Everytime i try to get some support i get 100% denial bc i used this scripts to install software.

They always tell its not how they imagine it to be installed. And therefore its not supported in any case. Doesnt matter how small or trivial the fails are, its just NOT SUPPORTED.

So my question is:
Why is this proxmox script not doing things how they are supposed to be done by the pelican devs?
Why do we change installation location?
Why do you not work together with the actualy pelican dev's in order to get it done the right way and work together instead of against each other.

I dont understand.

How to get support for the SOFTWARE regardless on how it was installed. Does installation location really change so many things that its such a big difference?

Pls enlighten the community since i read it very often in their pelican discord, that they wont support this scripts, even tho SO MANY ppls are using them.

Steps to reproduce

Install via script.
Have a Problem.
Ask for help in pelican discord.
Get denied by using scripts is highly disallowed there.

Look, I don’t really care anymore, so let’s just remove it. If the maintainers are so dismissive, then they’ll simply lose a large community of people using the helper scripts. I don’t need to say much about it either – either they help, or they don’t. Anyone who comes up with the ‘Docker’ excuse hasn’t understood what Docker actually is.

@community-scripts/contributor if you’re happy to confirm that, I’ll remove the whole tool. I’d include that as the reason too; otherwise, we’ll look like the fools again.

Can this be resolved with the pelican dev's?

Although they strongly disapprove of your script, it is the easiest way to install their software.

And to finally resolve problems the good way (without blatently just blaming the other one).

Maybe the pplps stop using it and running into unforseen problems.
Or the pelican dev's will realize that a big portion of their community actually came from that, and start working with u guys.

Imo the pelican dev's are VERY stubborn and not supporting at all, when u dont do things as they imagine it to be.

You’re not the first person to say that. Well, let them market their tool themselves then. (Incidentally, there have been over 5,000 trackable installs in the last 60 days.) I’ve little desire to argue with stubborn maintainers; I’ve been through that often enough. Some have got the message, others haven’t. I’ve heard negative comments about them on more than one occasion. At some point, I reckon, enough is enough.

@MickLesk I am a maintainer of Pelican and a community scripts user.

We aren't against scripts existing. We don't generally support them due to people not knowing what happens during those on a host.

As for the scripts in the community scripts repo, I don't see an issue because the generally will always be a clean install.

So they are rude and dismissive to.you so you come in here to another repo that does help its users and does fix issues when they arrise and shout and abuse them like they owe you something? And you think that's right thing to do, do you?

Think you need to take a hard look in the mirror right there cause that's not how its done.

After discussing this in Discord this is not an issue with the install of either the panel nor wings but an issue with configuring a reverse proxy via NPM.

My initial thought when I read their messages was that they were using the docker container we have. Any other responses than my initial thinking it was docker related have been community responses and not the Pelican team themselves.

I've had good experience with parker in the past.
I really hope u guys find a solution to this awful installation situation.

Since i cannot ask for any support in their discord, bc the answer was/is always "Script?.. BYE!"

Would be lovely to get also support there bc im using their SOFTWARE regardless of installation method.
