Description
Bichon is an open-source email archiving system that synchronizes emails from IMAP servers, indexes them for full-text search, and provides a REST API for programmatic access. Unlike email clients, Bichon is designed for archiving and searching rather than sending/receiving emails. It runs as a standalone server application that continuously synchronizes configured email accounts and maintains a searchable local archive. Built in Rust, it requires no external dependencies and provides fast, efficient email archiving, management, and search through a built-in WebUI. Its name is inspired by the puppy my daughter adopted last month.

The bichon script is ready for testing:

Note: This is not in the official repo yet—it's just a dev version! After merging into ProxmoxVE, it will need to be recreated.

Tested the script and it worked flawlessly for me.
LXC creation and installation completed without issues. I migrated all data from my existing Docker setup into the generated container and the restore went smoothly. Everything is running as expected.

You shouldn't do that. Its not a production ready yet. I need to add some more env variables and your update script will point to a script that will not exist after we do migration to main repository.

I only tested it to verify that the script works as expected and to give short feedback. This is not my production system.

I’m fully aware that this is a dev version and not production-ready yet. Just wanted to confirm that the basic setup and migration works fine for me.

Added env vars:

BICHON_ENCRYPT_PASSWORD=$BICHON_ENC_PASSWORD
BICHON_PUBLIC_URL=http://${LOCAL_IP}:15630
BICHON_CORS_ORIGINS=http://${LOCAL_IP}:15630

This will resemble production environment better and enable usage of reverse proxies

@tremor021 I created the same script as well a couple of weeks ago but was told that I'll have to wait a couple more months until Bichon is more mature 😄

Anyway, i tested your script and it worked fine for me (install as well as update). I modified the CORS and public URL settings to i could Bichon behind my reverse proxy. Maybe you could add a prompt for a custom domain during install

We made a exception to include this app as we spoke to the developer and the project itself has more than 1.3k stars. I now remembered that you submitted a script earlier. We can push your script instead of this one, it doesn't matter to me. They are pretty much almost the same.
