Unable to decode RC6 protocol of Tata Sky Remote for Set Top Box

Hi Experts,

I am using IRrecvDumpV2 to decode Tata Sky Remote for Set Top Box. When pressing power button following is the output. Decoder is decoding the protocol used but it gives code as 0x0. Receiver used is Vishay TSOP14638. Its printing 3 outputs, not sure if it is because of repeat transmission of remote. Can anybody please help?

Hmmmm, interesting. It is certainly badly decoding what ever it is.
It is certainly not an RC6 0 message. I'll have to take a deeper look. It may be an unsupported protocol.

I finally managed to decode the remote successfully with 56KHz decoder. So I believe it was the frequency issue on which IR remote is sending the codes. So my current question is answered but it is leading me to a bigger doubt/question and hope you can help me to understand the frequency problem.

1. I got the codes with 56KHz receiver and when I used RC6 class sendRC6() call, it is sending on 36KHz and surprisingly code that is received on 56Khz and sent using class functions is well accepted by Set Top Box. Is it expected?

2. I have observed twice that IR remote with 38KHz receiver is reporting Unknown protocol and same is well decoded with 56KHz (This case of RC6 and Hitachi_AC296). However the code received if sent through class objects are well received by appliance though class object is sending it on lower frequencies.

3. Based on my IRrecvDumpV2 experiment with multiple remotes, I am finding that on 56KHz all remotes are detected by RecvSumpV2, however some are not decoded (showing unknown) on 38KHz. Does it mean that higher frequency receiver can always decode lower freq codes but lower freq received can not decode higher freq codes? If that is the case we will use 56KHz receiver for learning. I have no knowledge on this so any explanation will help to take right decision for receiver.

If anyone is still interested in this topic: Just FYI: I was successfully using RC6 24 bit with a Sky+HD box for a few years. I recently upgraded to SkyQ which still uses RC6, but now it's seems to be 32 bit. I've got that working reliably now. I'm using ESP32 and ATmega328P with the default Arduino IR library. If anyone wants to ask me about what the RC6 raw data values are, I can provide the info, and would be happy to answer any other questions about what I've done to get IR tx to Sky boxes working.
