I'm having some difficulty trying to write integration tests for a test DAO, could you please document how it's done?

I assume you refer to Arquillian based tests?

It could be about Arquillian based tests, yes.

The trick is most likely to deploy the whole CDI extension dependency with your Arquillian archive. This can be a problem for embedded containers -> I was also struggling with Solder in my embedded Glassfish profile (see also http://arquillian.org/blog/2012/04/13/the-danger-of-embedded-containers/).
