How to improve the display of characters by Terminal?

Describe the bug
I'm running, in a terminal (konsole), TERM=xterm.
Character rendering is very bad.

To Reproduce

• Kubuntu 23.04
• Terminal Konsole;
• TERM=xterm
• Default character encode: IBM850
